Pinterest Recipes – Do they pass or fail?

How many recipes have you pinned on Pinterest? Now, how many of those have you actually tried to make?!

I recently set a goal for myself: Make more dishes that I have pinned on Pinterest! I wanted to share some of those recipes here, and tell you how they worked out!

Breakfast Egg Bake

Alterations to original recipe:

I didn’t have plain Mozarella cheese, so I used what I had, which was a shredded cheese mixture of Colby, American, and Mozarella.

Ratings:

Taste (1 being gross, 10 being delicious):

10 – It was so yummy! One serving wasn’t enough!

Ease (1 being extremely difficult, 10 being extremely easy):

10  – It took 15 minutes to prepare, as the recipe stated – and most of that time was preparing the sausage.

Final Thoughts:

I would love to make a tradition of making this recipe for holiday mornings. It is such a delicious, comfort food. You can always change out the meat. Instead of sausage, try adding ham or bacon – or both!

Zesty Lime Shrimp and Avocado

Alterations to original recipe:

I didn’t have cilantro! So I left that out, but according to the original recipe – it’s an important part. Whoops! I thought it came out delicious without it, though!

I was running a little behind on time, so my picture  is by no means fancy. Also, the avocado naturally smooshes and coats everything. I don’t know how the original recipe author got such a pretty picture! Their avocado is so perfect!

Ratings:

Taste (1 being gross, 10 being delicious):

10 – It was so good! Very fresh and light – great for summer. Guilt free lunch or dinner!

Ease (1 being extremely difficult, 10 being extremely easy):

7 – I give it a lower rating on ease because I bought (stupidly, because I only made it harder on myself) raw shrimp with shell, so I had to boil them, peel them, and devein them. Ugh – that was a chore. Despite washing my hands ten times, they still smelled like fish. Other than that, all it requires is a lot of chopping, which isn’t difficult, but it is time consuming.

Final Thoughts:

I highly recommend this recipe! It would be great to bring to a party or a picnic. People will love the taste and also love that it’s good for you, too! You can always cut the jalapeños if you don’ like spice, but I highly recommend them. The extra kick is so nice!

Alterations to original recipe:

None! I had everything I needed

I was still using my old iPhone 3GS and the camera is NOT very good for taking food pics. But I do what I can.

Taste (1 being gross, 10 being delicious):

9 – I personally LOVED them! Buuuuuut they were a bit chewy. I wonder if there is a way to make the caramel center a little less sticky on the teeth, but that’s the nature of caramel! The cookie part alone was reeeeeaaaaally good, but it’s a lot of sugar, so I would suggest sticking to just one at a time!

Ease (1 being extremely difficult, 10 being extremely easy):

8 – Quite easy! The tough part is making sure there is enough cookie dough on the bottom when you set them on the sheet so that the caramel doesn’t ooze out the bottom and you loose half the filling when you try to move it to a cooling rack.

Final Thoughts:

I think it’s great for a sweet fall treat! It’s seasonal but with a little twist. I certainly have never had a cookie like this before. AND they’re not difficult to make!

Alterations to original recipe:

Several…

1bag of frozen cheese filled tortellini (19 or 20 oz)                                   photo-9

1jar of alfredo sauce (15 oz)

½ can of tomato or marinara sauce

1 Kraft’s Fresh Take Cheese and Breadcrumb Mix in the Italian Parmesan flavor

1 Bag of frozen broccoli (I steamed it first before adding to the bake)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook tortellini according to the instructions on the bag. Meanwhile, mix together cooked broccoli, alfredo sauce, and tomato sauce. Stir in cooked tortellini. Top with the cheese and crumb mixture. Pop it in the oven for about 15-20 minutes (until the cheese is nice and melty).

I liked this recipe so much that I wrote about it on OAM a couple of months ago. Check out the original post here: http://onceamonth4ladies.com/2013/07/18/tortellini-broccoli-bake/

Instead of Panko bread crumbs, I used crushed up Ritz crackers.

10 – If you’re a fan of Jalapeño Poppers, then you’ll love this.

Ease (1 being extremely difficult, 10 being extremely easy):

10 – EASY, EASY, EASY

Final Thoughts:

It’s crazy just how good this dip is. The spiciness and creaminess of this dip will be a hit at any party. It’s to die for.

Have fun!!
