Ask XY: Big Girls Do Cry

Ask XY

What is your first instinct when a girl starts crying?

Mr. V – Its fine.

Mr. W – Have you ever seen a dog on the 4th of July? Just sitting in the tub trebling? That would be me, it’s not something to be afraid of but for some reason it’s happening and I don’t know what to do about it.

Mr. X – People are usually embarrassed by crying.  I find it especially important to let people have as much control as possible when they are in a fragile state.  I will offer my hand, palm facing up.  It’s comforting, nonthreatening, and she can take it if she wants.

Mr. Y – I would first try and comfort her and find out why she is crying.

Mr. Z – I’d like to try and help, no matter what the situation.  I understand that it’s a normal way to release emotions, so unless I KNOW it’s my doing, I’m probably going to try and figure out what’s wrong first.  If it’s me, and it has been, is to work through it.  The HUGE exception is if you cry all the time when you drink.  See a therapist and stop ruining everyone else’s time.

If guys can’t cry; then women need to grow up.

“Girls” want to act like ladies with the privileges and not the social responsibilities, and that is beyond inappropriate. I blame this on the feminist movements that many wish could become history (like this writer.)

What? No one said anything about crying because of social responsibilities. The question didn’t state why the hypothetical situation was happening…it could be a number of reasons. Women are just as inclined to not want to cry for fear of showing weakness as men are. I feel like you took something completely out of context solely so that you could lash out at an innocent blog post. That’s the only thing here that’s inappropriate.

        well -exxxcccusssee me! 😉

I really can’t stand people who cry – women or men. I find it childish (or however you want to refer to teenage verb) that’s all. People need to learn how to control their emotions. I was lectured in school for being over emotional – I wonder why other girls never was lectured in the same way…humm maybe poor parenting could be a good start?
