Lady Confessions: A Woman’s Prerogative

Is it REALLY a woman’s prerogative to constantly change her mind?

Indecisiveness is not gender-specific. (…or maybe it is gender-specific… no it isn’t…. actually, it might be….)

 – – –

Not a prerogative, no. A personality trait, yes. Am I guilty? Yes, very much so. I will say sometimes it’s nice to not have to make the f’in decision of where to eat, what to fix for dinner, what movie should we watch, what should we do next, what position should we switch to, what should you wear to your whatever, when should we go to this specific place for your specific event… get it? Make a decision so we don’t have to. Sometimes, just sometimes.

– – –

I don’t think so. Lots of women always know what they want.

– – –

No. It’s annoying and rude. People can change their minds, but I don’t think it’s the prerogative of women to constantly flip flop. I feel like it just f#cks with people.

– – –

I think everyone has a right to change their minds, but they don’t have the right to get pissed off at other people if those other people have an issue with the constant changing of the mind. Because if you do nothing by change your mind all the time, that can come off as being a bit wishy-washy and annoying. Does that make sense…?

When changing a room (redecorating) or purchasing something (like the recent bread machine), I typically warn ahead of time. I say something like, “I reseve the right to change my mind if I get a better idea or don’t like it.” Sets the stage and warns a person.

We all have that right to change our minds from time to time; I think we’re all guilty of this now and then. And as Naia mentioned…sometimes a better idea comes to mind. However, I agree, if someone constantly flip flops and remains indecisive and especially when it interferes with others…it can make you look wishy-washy and it does get annoying. And yeah, it’s definitely not gender specific, I all too many males who are rather bad at making decisions and like you said, some women are often very set and sure as to what they want.

What do you think?
