Bottle Bouquet

Valentine’s Day is THE hardest day to shop for my boyfriend.  Christmas and Birthday, fine, but we’re not into chocolate hearts and stuffed animals.  Everyday useful things just aren’t exciting.  Flowers are easy but you normally don’t give flowers to boys.  So last year when V-Day was coming around, I wanted to do something fun and unexpected.  That’s when I found the Mini Bar Bouquet.  It’s simple, really easy to put together, and it’s a big hit.

What you’ll need:

  • A glass, vase or clay pot (I used a tumbler because he needed a nice one)
  • Foam or plant arrangement foam
  • Long wooden stirring sticks or cake pop dowels
  • Strong tape
  • Various mini bar bottles

Pick out desired mini bar liquors.  My boyfriend is a whiskey guy so I bought 8 varieties so it was like a sampler.  Place the foam in your container, make sure it’s in there snug so it can support the weight of the bottles.  A friend gave me her leftover foam from some flowers that were delivered to her which fit the cup perfectly.  Tape your sticks to the back of the bottle, some a little higher, some lower to make a nice arrangement.  I used scotch tape, but some needed multiple strips just to support the weight of the glass bottle.  Push the sticks in the foam and arrange to your fancy.

And there you have it: a beautiful drinkable bouquet.  He’ll soon be asking when it will bloom again!

Apologies for continuing to breathe and waste other valuable natural resources, but looking at the bottle labelled Knob Creek made me laugh for longer than I care to admit.

Long time reader, keep up the good work…
