Spice Up Your Life!

Being Mid-western girls, we like to give shout-outs to our favorite things from flyover land. And when it comes to cooking, I’m a big fan of Penzey’s Spices. The original store is based in Wisconsin, but they have grown to several locations throughout the country (including California!) and you can order online.

They have a great variety! From your typical spices like Ground Black Pepper and Basil to the more unusual ones like Tien Tsin Chile Peppers, not to mention all the great Pure Extracts. But what I like best is all the blends! I was given a couple different box sets from Penzey’s with a variety of blends in them that I just love. It gives you more variety to your cooking when you can take plain ‘ole broccoli and throw some North Face Sunset Seasoning or Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle on it. Suddenly eating healthy isn’t so bland!

I’ll even give you one more reason to become a fan: you can reduce your sodium intake without sacrificing flavor. Penzey’s has a long list of salt-free seasonings from Tuscan Sunset, to Chinese 5 Spice Powder, to Hot Chocolate mix.

Now here’s the cherry on top of this delicious sundae. If you sign up for their newsletter, not only do they provide a lot of good recipes, but they give you coupons for free jars of spices. Not the kind of coupons where you have to spend a certain amount to get the discount, it’s not even “buy one, get one free,” it’s straight up FREE! In my last newsletter, I received a coupon for a 1/2 cup jar of Ruth Ann’s Muskego Ave Chicken and Fish seasoning. I bring the coupon in and they give me a 3.8oz jar of seasony goodness. No money required.

Happy cooking!

I love to cook! I love to create my own signature dish. Recipe?..maybe back in the day I would use them..measuring everything spot on. But today I measure nothing. I have learned that all a recipe is a start. Once you have mastered the correct racios for a particular dish…..the rest is up to you to be creative.sometimes what may turn out to be a disaster of a recipe…could be the outcome of. Spectacular creation.if you think you messed a dish up…use your amagination and the so called flop..is just the beginning to a fabulous dish. I love spices..and penzy’s is the perfect start to your spice collection. Smell your spices..your nose and pallet will guide you. Happy cooking everyone! Go ahead..spice it up with all your power and might.
Spice it upwith these seasonings and do your cooking right! Smiles…
