The Cherry-on-Top Summer Drink

The OAM ladies have a new love – The Cherry Mojito. Yes, we know it isn’t a new cocktail to the world – but it’s new to us! We discovered it on our last OAM girl’s night out at Michael’s Bar and Grill in Burbank. We stopped there before heading to Our Time of the Month show just a few doors down. If you haven’t read about our recent OAM adventure – hop on over to the Events tab on our website.

The Cherry Mojito puts a summer twist on a classic drink. It pretty much tastes like cherry kool-aide, so you’ll have to take her easy or you might end up ass-to-the-floor in a hurry!

Want to whip up some of this liquid candy for you and your girlfriends? We found a great recipe on Martha Stewart’s website. I mean, who doesn’t want to be like Martha? Well, minus the whole prison thing…

Anyways – here it is!

– Tosha

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups fresh lime juice (about 9 limes)
  • 3 pounds dark cherries, such as Bing or Burlat, pitted
  • 2 1/4 cups best-quality black cherry or plain vodka
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle sparkling water

  1. Bring sugar and 1 1/4 cups water to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat; let cool completely. (Makes about 2 cups syrup.) Syrup can be refrigerated in an airtight container up to 1 month.
  2. Put lime juice into a medium nonreactive bowl. Halve 2/3 of the cherries; add all cherries to lime juice. Stir in syrup. Refrigerate at least 1 hour (up to overnight).
  3. Stir cherry mixture and vodka in a large serving bowl. Fill 12 glasses with ice. Spoon 1/2 cup cherry-vodka mixture into each glass. Top with sparkling water; serve immediately.
